People in Fort Collins know me as someone who will tell it like it is, as someone who is willing to take risks, and as someone who really doesn’t give a shit if you get your panties in a wad over what my writers and I put out there for Fort Collins to read.
I’ve been in the community media landscape for six years now, between Feasting Fort Collins, building The Scoop Blog Network, a local blogging network with a team of bloggers writing about lifestyle topics in our community, and taking over Fresh Air Fort Collins and Budding Fort Collins after writers have moved on to greener pastures.
If there’s one thing I know, it’s writing about our community with unapologetic knack.
I’ve written things that have resulted in my fair share of hate mail, attempted smear campaigns (I’m not joking), and raised fists… just because I had no fear of what I put out there. I have a natural skill for saying what others hold back on.
But, in all of that, I have seen the gorgeous flip side. I’ve received countless emails from people about how happy they were to find their favorite things about Fort Collins because of the honesty in my writing and the dedication our bloggers have in the network. I’ve watched our city grow and my bloggers become valued, trusted resources. So while there may be haters, there are many lovers too. That is what keeps us going.
Fueled by my complete disdain for the abundance of Fort Facade bullshit around here, my ability to publish controversial content without fear, and a team of writers who love the idea of shedding light on the dark corners of the reality in our community, Naked Fort Collins comes to life.
Naked Fort Collins has multiple meanings to our team of writers. Many of us are baring it all in our writing, and some of us doing so under aliases to protect our professional lives. We are going to write about things that will make your jaw drop and your face flush.
This blog is starting as an experiment. Our team of writers from all walks of life, with years of experience in different sexual situations and relationships, are getting together to share the stories of what happens behind closed doors in Fort Collins. This week you’ll meet each one in our launch and read about what they’ll bring to the table.
Our idea is to share real life stories of what sex and relationships are like in Fort Collins for all lifestyle types – dating, single, married, divorced, LGBTQ, no matter if there is struggle, achievements, or weirdness. We’ll write about date night tips and dick pics, going to Dr. John’s and what it’s like going from a lot of sex to no sex. We’ll write about breaking from religious shame, BDSM, porn in marriage, using FetLife and Ashley Madison in Fort Collins, and the secret swinging communities around here.
We’re telling the stories that nobody else will tell you in this city. That includes troubles that we’ve seen, and issues in our community. We have the facade of being white bread suburbia when there’s a lot more to the people who live here. Naked Fort Collins is something that we can all relate to in some way.
We want all walks of life to have a voice on this blog; a place for people to be able to say the things that either:
- They talk about with their friends after too many cocktails
- Things they can’t talk to anyone else about
It won’t all be scandalous, but it will be revealing when it comes to relationships in Fort Collins. As a wife of 16 years, mom for 10 years, and writer for life, I’ll be sure to add my thoughts on successes and failures that people tend to keep buried in shame. We’ll cover marriage counseling, mental illness and how that impacts relationships, and how parents in Fort Collins are having “the talk” with their kids.
We’re here to tell the truth because we have the balls to publish what others won’t, and it’s about damn time we do.
